WWE main eventer Sheamus and NXT champion Finn Balor are both determined to dish out a drubbin’ in Dublin tonight in the Irish stars’ first match against one another.

The contest between the hometown brawler — once U2’s former bouncer before becoming world champion — and the highly-acclaimed ace, who grew up just 12 miles outside of the Irish capital in Bray, is the most anticipated encounter on the first stop of WWE’s UK and European tour.

And although Sheamus and Balor are usually kept apart by their ties to different brands within WWE’s programming, the clash was hinted at earlier this year when the pair butted heads at the city’s last live event put on by the sports entertainment juggernaut in April.

Money in the Bank contract holder Sheamus, 37, came out after his opponent’s victory over Neville on that occasion to bad mouth Balor, local UFC hero Conor McGregor and the crowd — including telling the audience to ‘pay their water charges’, following the controversial introduction of the unpopular measure — before booting Finn in the face with a Brogue Kick.

Promising an ‘Irish takeover’, heavy-hitter Sheamus commented on his Instagram account before boarding his flight over: “Minutes from take off. I cannot wait to come.”

And Balor, 34, posted fan art on his social media hyping the match, saying: “There is a new sheriff in town.”

Becky Lynch, another jewel of a talent from the Emerald Isle, also expressed her excitement at returning home, tweeting: “Exactly three years ago I left Dublin for my WWE try out. What a crazy, amazing journey it’s been!”

Other stars billed to appear on the card include WWE world heavyweight champion Seth Rollins, Cesaro Big Show, Kane, Paige, Dolph Ziggler, tag champs New Day, the Dudley Boyz, Ric Flair and Divas title holder Charlotte.

Nikki Bella was last night ruled out of making the trip over after sister Brie and Alicia Fox confirmed on Twitter they would be representing Team Bella without her. Former Divas champion Nikki is believed to be recuperating from a problem with her neck.
