What is it?
Dianabol is a commercial name of the first modern anabolic steroid (oral tablets), designed by Dr. Ziegler (then physician to the US weightlifting team) and originally produced by Ciba. It became hugely popular and some still consider it the best steroid ever. The active substance in Dianabol is Methandienone/Methandrostenolone. Its production has been discontinued long ago by Ciba, but it is still produced as a generic drug under various names in many Eastern European and Asian countries.
What are its effects?
Dianabol has very strong anabolic effects enabling large mass gains in relatively short time. This is achieved by protein synthesis and water retention. Dianabol also has strong androgenic effects and aromatizes (turns into estrogen) easily.
What are its side-effects?
Water retention caused by Dianabol use results in heightened blood-pressure. Aromatization can cause gynecomastia and other complications related to higher estrogen levels in males. Dianabol is liver-toxic. The liver-damage is usually not permanent and depends on how long and in which amounts is Dianabol administered. Because of its strong androgenic effects, women should avoid Dianabol altogether. Acne vulgaris is a common side-effect too.
How is it administered?
Dianabol is administered orally, twice a day during meals. Typical dose is 15-45mg/day, but the risk of liver-damage seems to grow significantly if more than 20mg/day is administered. Bodybuilders often stack Dianabol with some injectable steroid, usually Deca-Durabolin or Primobolan. Typical cycle is 10 weeks. Tamoxifen and Proviron may be necessary to counter the effects of estrogen.
